Colon Cleansing – I now have diarrhea?
I am taking a product for colon cleansing. The first day was great as I had several normal bowel movements after almost a year of severe constipation. Previously I averaged using the toilet three times a week. Now, the third day into it I have severe diarrhea as well as some anal leakage. Should I continue, take a smaller dose or stop altogether? In case this is relevant I am using a product called OXY-POWDER.

I just read their site and it is VERY misleading! It states that Oxy-Powder helps to LIQUEFY and lift away mucous and sludge gently so it WON’T make you a prisoner of your bathroom and there is NEVER an urgent rush.
Look at those key words! Now if you read the "Caution" part of their site it states "This product causes WATERY and gaseous stools that can cause you to feel the urge to pass gas. IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO CONTROL YOUR BOWELS, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT. They state that this is different from diarrhea which is caused by a viral infection.
They totally contradict themselves, and yes this will cause watery stools and leakage. Be sure to read through a site thoroughly when purchasing a product.
Just to let you know I did a 30 day colonix and detox from http://www.drnatura.com, who is rated #1 in Health Magazine, and I never had a problem with my bowels.
It’s working…drink PLENTY of water…..
This is exactly what a colon cleanser does. If it is uncomfortable for you, then discontinue use.
Thats why you should be around bathroom at all times.
Its what colon cleasing does to you.
I am not familiar with the product, but if you can add some fiber to your diet it should buffer the problem. Diarrhea could just be part of the process of cleaning out your system after such a problem with constipation. Like another answerer said, be sure and drink plenty of water.
You should stop altogether. This is why colon "cleansing" is one of the stupidest fads that has ever arisen. It is completely unnecessary and has no health benefit whatsoever. You are in danger of causing yourself serious harm if you continue. Stop. Now. Do not resume.
Opus is correct…as usual.
Ummm, what did you think a colon cleanse would be? All colon cleansers are laxatives.
Colon cleansing is bunk as far as health benefits go. If you have constipation, drink more water, eat more fruit and veggies and take a gentle stool bulking product like Metamucil. If that doesn’t work see your doctor.
